Instructional- Frontflip to Front Roll Combo

Frontflip to Front Roll Combo

So you have mastered your front flips and want to do something a little harder like a combo trick, a combo trick is where you link two tricks together and they become one. The best thing about a combo is that it will get everyone on the banks to there feet, one because they won't be expecting it and two because they want to see it again.

For this trick you will need to be very confident and consistent with landing your front flips well out in to the flats where the water is unbroken. If you're not landing out in the flats you're wasting your time attempting this trick, save yourself the hard crashes for no reason and go back to practicing your frontflips for a little longer.

Once you're landing out in the flats consistently, you're ready. Start by practicing your front flips then its time to go for it. Cut out really wide, you're going to want all the speed you can get at the wake, then cut in hard in hard at the wake and do your frontflip like normal with only one difference. You want to land a little on the front heavy side, this will make your air front roll a lot easier.

As the board comes in contact with the water you want to pull the handle in hard to your inside hip push as much weight down as possible on your outside knee. At the same time you want to lean forward a little and look back over your inside shoulder, trying to create a flicking motion. All this should be done quicker then your regular front roll. Timing is everything on this trick and you will be back on your board before you realize it.

Tips
If you're having trouble landing nose heavy off your front flip, try do a regular wake jump out in to the flats and try your air roll, same idea but easier to learn because you're not coming out of a front flip. Once you have master this bring the front flip back in to the picture and you will be a master in no time.

If you're not getting enough air to get around on the air front roll you need to land a little more on the nose of the board.

If you're getting enough air but keep landing on your side or back, you need to remember to pull hard on the rope and flick it fast.

The bigger and more controlled the front flip, the easier it will be to spot your landing and place the board where you want it to be.

Hope you enjoy this trick as much as I do and hope to see you out there on the rivers and lakes showing this new trick you have learned. If you have any questions on this trick or any other or maybe you want to see us do an instructional on a specific trick... drop us an email to kneeboardvic@hotmail.com and I'll do my best to help you out.

Happy boarding.

North Carolina Throwaway

Team Carolina Throwaway from AllState Productions on Vimeo.

Well I had all these clips from the North Carolina trip, but didn't have a place in any of the other videos recently made. So what does one do. Instead of actually throwing it away I thought I would collaborate them together for a little almost behind the scenes look. Nothing like beachball jokes, black eye jokes, and of couse celebrating Alisa Piper's birthday without Alisa Piper. Special thanks again to George and Doris for driving me up aswell as everything else you did from scoring, judging, etc. :)

Randy and Colton Gibbs

Everyone has their opinions, but if you were to ask me... Randy Gibbs has the most extended layout ever. Even Nick Sauls told me many years ago about how awesome Randy's layouts are. (When Nick thinks your layouts are awesome... you are doing something very very VERY right).

And Randy's son Colton is fearless. The wake is literally as tall as he was and he wasn't afraid to jump it without the use of the strap. And he has those Gibbs genes that'll guarantee you'll be awesome at kneeboarding.

The thing I liked about hangout with and filming the Gibbs boys were that they were so laid back, nice, and stoked to be out on the water with friends.

Dave Brunt is the craziest of MFs. You might wonder what is MF? well its my friends. I can't thank you and your family enough MF. For the roof over my head, the food, the beers, and all the pulls at the event. It was an awesome experience... MF!!!

Marisa Upson did an awesome job of shredding gnar and taking some sweet photos. But she is a bad influence. She kept everyone up all night with her shaninigans, puzzles, and bar tricks. :)

Brandon Bivens

When I met Brandon Bivens, I didn't know what to expect in his riding, but I probably should have expected epic epicness because thats just what he showed everyone. I really like how he not only throws a backroll combo, but he grabs each roll on the combo. Can't wait to see you at the Rider Cup bro

Spencer Leggett

I got the chance to meet a new friend, Spencer Leggett, at the Team Carolina event. And he was my favorite person to film because of his agressive style. The kid is an animal and this video doesn't do him justice. Right after I got a black eye and I put the camera down to put ice on my eye. (Spencer had a black eye aswell) I watched this kid throw the BIGGEST backwards backflip I've ever seen. I can only think of 6 people that have ever rode away from this move, but none of which were nearly as big as the one Spencer threw. I think theres a chance we may see one or multiple new moves from this guy by the end of the season. If I'm not mistaken I believe both Overton's and O'Brien have recently sponsored Spencer.

Gabe and Sam Grissom

I feel like I should have popped these videos out a long time ago. Here's a video of Gabe and Sam Grissom at the Team Carolina event. I believe at that time both Gabe and Sam hit personal best runs on Sunday. Most of this is footage from Saturday. Smoothness, amplitude and style must be a gene that runs in the family.

(excuse the random title at the beginning... I accidently copied and pasted it from the end of the video. I'd go in and fix it, but I already got rid of the files.)

Many more videos very soon!!!

Ken and Kenny Stuart

I love these guys to death. If you haven't met the Stuart family, I suggest you add it to your bucket list. They know how to have a great time and put on a great event.

George and Doris Rohner were nice enough to drive me up to Blue Ridge Georgia this last weekend for the Last Chance for Rider Cup. We met up with the Stuarts late in the afternoon on Friday to shred. Unfortunately, my camera chip ran out of room midway through their set, but none the less... Ken and Kenny screwed around and had a blast while making it look easy and good.

Ken and Kenny Stuart from AllState Productions on Vimeo.

To summarize the event... Kent Hartshorn and Gabe Grissom shattered over 5,000 point runs, Alisa hit a 2,950 point run, BIG WAKES, watching every episode of House and CSI known to man, thoughts of skating the empty pool at the hotel, eating shrimp sausage and corn, touristing up the oldschool dam, seeing old friends, meeting a new young shredder, and chilling in a boat surrounded by beautiful mountains of Georgia. Thanks to everyone that had helped out with the event.
