2010 AKA Male and Female Athletes of the Year

Congrats to Kent Harshorn and Alisa Piper. Both have truly earned this award from everthing they have accomplished over the last year.

The American Kneeboard Association has announced that Kent Hartshorn (Goose Creek, S.C.) and A'lisa Piper (Lake Placid, Fla.) have been named the organization's 2010 Male Athlete of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively.

Hartshorn won titles in slalom, tricks, freestyle and overall at the 26th Kneeboard National Championships, Sept. 4-6, in Pine Mountain, Ga. It was his first national overall title since taking a four-year hiatus to work as a regional coordinator with In His wakes Ministries. Hartshorn also won the men's freestyle titles at the 2010 International Kneeboard Rider Cup, Georgia State Kneeboard Championships and Florida State Kneeboard Championships.

Piper swept titles in slalom, tricks and freestyle, as well as women’s flipout at the Kneeboard Nationals. She also swept the women's slalom, tricks, freestyle and overall titles at the 2010 Georgia State Kneeboard Championships and Florida State Kneeboard Championships, in addition to winning flip out, freestyle and slalom titles at the 5th International Kneeboard Rider Cup.

Both athletes will be honored at the USA Water Ski Awards Reception on Jan. 29 in Haines City, Fla.
